Teeth Cleaning – Importance
Patients who are consistent with dental teeth cleaning and adult dental checkup are likely to have healthier bones and gums. In addition to teeth cleaning, many conditions can be diagnosed during your regular checkup visits, helping you to avoid costly and potentially serious dental problems in the future. Poor oral hygiene can have severe implications on your cardiovascular well-being and general health as well.
Poor oral health can affect the aesthetics of your smile and impair your ability to eat well and digest your food, leading to severe nutritional and systemic problems.
A bi-yearly tooth cleaning and checkup at our office is the best way to ensure that you have a beautiful smile year-round. During your dental cleaning, we examine your teeth and use sophisticated tools to clear away plaque and bacteria that build on the teeth, gums, and in the areas that can’t be reached with daily brushing and flossing.
During your cleaning and exam,
- Our dentist will clean your teeth thoroughly by removing the accumulated plaque or tartar (also called dental calculus), if any, which can cause tooth decay and periodontal disease. We use special tools to remove the accumulated tartar through a process called scaling.
- After the scaling process, they are polished to remove any surface stains on your teeth.
- The final step involved in teeth cleaning is flossing. Your dentist will use floss to ensure the areas between your teeth are clean, resulting in a healthy, bright smile.
- Examine your smile for signs of any damaging dental diseases.
Follow proper oral care at home and visit your dentist at least once every six months to have a beautiful, healthy smile. Call us to schedule an appointment.
