Extractions

No one wants to lose a tooth, but unfortunately there are times when it is the best option. Teeth may require extraction for any number of reasons: infection, broken beyond repair, or significant decay, to name just a few.

There is a common misconception about tooth extraction—that teeth are “pulled” or yanked out. It’s no wonder the idea of having a tooth removed is so scary! In reality, extractions are achieved more by pushing a tooth out rather than simply tugging away on it. It is generally a methodical and calm process. Dr. Palmer will anesthetize the tooth and surrounding tissues to ensure that no pain is felt during the procedure.

Healing from an extraction is relatively straightforward, and generally takes a week or so until you are feeling completely back to normal. Many patients, however, are able to return to work within days. Dr. Palmer will advise you on best practices for quick healing and how to take care of the extraction site.

If you are in pain, or if you have teeth that require extraction, you can be sure that we will make the experience as painless and easy as possible.
